From the moment you meet Matthew Laurie you realise he is a horseman in the truest sense.

Following his years of professionally competing in eventing, training and developing equestrian horses, Matthew decided to use his undoubted skills in the thoroughbred racing industry.

Matthew has been involved in the education and training of horses internationally and within Australia, enabling him to obtain the tools to communicate with his horses, break them in and to understand and address problems that others can’t.

His desire to maximize a horse’s ability, coupled with his understanding of the horse’s psychology, means Matthew is an unmatched horseman with a widely respected reputation within the industry.

He took out a trainers’ licence in 2004 after being encouraged to do so by some of Australia’s most prominent trainers for whom he had broken in numerous winners of Group races.

“My aim is to consistently compete at the highest level… and in racing that means winning Group One races.”
